Jobava on 39th place in FIDE World Rapid Chess Championships 2021

Jobava started the second day very confidently by securing a draw against World Champion GM Magnus Carlsen, with very solid play. He continued playing very solidly during the day and drew some of the other top players, including GM Jan Nepomniachtchi and GM Alexander Grischuk. After the second day, he was on 7th place and good chances of a top position. However, two losses against two young Indian players (GM Dommaraju Gukesh and IM Guha Mitrabha) on the final third day destroyed all dreams of a top position and a pretty sad ending of such an impressive first two days.

Today the FIDE World Blitz Chess Championships starts, where Jobava also participates and can be watched live on NRK, or
